Finally, a tool to tell you exactly where you're not going

You've been staring at a map for hours, trying to figure out where to move, or where to set your terrible sci-fi story. Stop thinking. Our Random Location Generator uses completely arbitrary algorithms to select a spot on the globe, giving you the precise geo coordinates and the closest recognizable name. Are you going to go there? No. Is it useful? Debatable. But it sure beats making a decision on your own.

  • Pointless Travel: Click 'Rerun' until you get a location that's slightly less inaccessible than the last one.
  • Boredom Cure: Drop the coordinates into a mapping app and see what satellite photos pop up. Guaranteed to be a waste of five minutes.
  • Character Creation: Your protagonist must be from *somewhere*. Give them a random, unpronounceable place of birth to make them seem mysterious.

Need a less random address?

If a named city and some random coordinates are too vague, try our Random Address Generator for a full street address you can't actually use. If you need a random place for a much-needed vacation, check out our Random Vacation Generator. Go on, get clicking; that random spot on Earth is waiting for you to completely ignore it.
